I thought Aquaman’s real name was Authur Curry. But in the current book “Inheiritence” they keep calling him Orin. Why? Did he change his name? Why?

Arthur Curry?
I win! I win!
I belive his origin was a human son of a scientist who raised him to be able to function underwater. This was later retconned into him being from an actual race of undersea humans (from Atlantis?)
Short answer: Orin is his Atlantean name; Arthur Curry is his surface name.
See this wikipedia entry for more.
I never even knew he was supposed to be Arthur Curry. None of my Silver Age Aquaman or Justice League comics ever call him anything except “Aquaman” (Except for one panel in JLA where he was undercover in a waterfront bar under the name “C. King” . Nobody’d ever suspect that name!) I musta missed every reference to his origin.
The current Aquaman is named Arthur Curry, just to add to the confusion. Arthur Joseph Curry, or AJ. He’s related to the man who raised Orin (and named him Arthur Curry) - his great nephew, which explains the coincidental naming. He ended up becoming Aquaman because Orin, at some point in the last year, was physically changed, and driven insane and semi-amnesiac, and thought his memories of his own life were a prophecy of AJ’s life to come.
