Even you can’t be so blindly partisan as to think a report Christie commissioned from a Christie connected law firm is going to be taken seriously by, well, anyone. This is basically a half step removed from Nixon’s “I am not a crook” speech.
Hey, lets be big about this! Let’s just chuck the whole thing when it comes to Ms Zimmer and her accusations! Totally innocent on that one count! What the hell, throw the kid a bone!
Heck, why stop there? Let’s just stipulate that the big doofus had no idea whatsoever as to what mischief was being done in his name, with power delegated by him. An innocent lamb without the least culpability by reason of not having a clue what was going on around him.
Lets take a moment to regard his good moments, like when he forthrightly defended a Muslim employee against a bunch of bigoted assholes. I heartily approved, and would even offer the appropriate New Jersey cheer, and not even try to blame it on the dog!
Nonetheless, despite our outpouring of generous acceptance, it would appear that Gov Christie’s hopes for higher elective office are, at least for the foreseeable future, murky and clouded with doubt.
Well, darn! Ain’t that a bitch!
Zimmer now has her chance to publically challenge the findings.
Unless you prefer they skip having a trial and just go straight to the hanging.
(post shortened for clarity)
Hahahaha. Thanks for so generously conceding a point that’s been pretty obvious you couldn’t win. Zimmer let you down. What a hoot. (I don’t see any point in tossing away any bones when you don’t seem to have a leg to stand on as it is. IMHO, of course.)
Your sarcasm detector needs new batteries.
And a gauge or a chime or something.
I’m sure Zimmer will refute the bogus Christie report with vigor. Just out of curiousity, doorhinge, are you a supporter of Christie for president in 2016? If so, what would it take to change your mind?
Well, my memory ain’t all that great, what with the ravages of age and a long-standing enthusiasm for herbal remedies and exotic alkaloids. So, I’m at something of a loss, here, trying to recall exactly when and how I expressed any such opinion.
So, how about this, hoss? You show me where I did, and I’ll eat a raw catfish. And if you can’t, you have a nice hot cup of shut the fuck up.
Deal?
I wasn’t really a supporter of Christie for president, but I liked him. I saw him as a big tough guy that could argue his own positions without relying on a god, and who remembered and took care of the people who put him in office.
Just, I was thinking of the voters, …
I’ve never supported Christie for President. I could be persuaded to change my mind if/when Christie survives the media lynch mob. What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger, right?
Mayor Hoboken’s “version” of what happened has been questioned by sources other than the Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher LLP report (which was led by a self-proclaimed Democrat). Zimmer doesn’t seem to have refuted those earlier contradictions either. Yet?
*First on CNN: Mayor behind Christie allegations full of contradictions

(CNN) – The Democratic mayor at the center of one of the controversies swirling around Republican Gov. Chris Christie is, to put it politely, a woman of contradictions.
Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer says the New Jersey governor threatened to withhold Superstorm Sandy relief funds unless she got behind a redevelopment project he favors. It’s a story that has changed with the telling.
The inconsistencies don’t stop there. Hundreds of pages of court documents reviewed by CNN raise questions about her allegations against Christie and whether she deals in the same pay-to-play politics she’s alleging against him*.
Are you using the term, “with vigor”, to mean “ignore”?
For someone who’s gone on ad nauseum about media lynch mobs and rushing to judgement you seem awfully eager to attack Zimmer rather than waiting for one of the real investigations to be concluded.
OK, let’s go to the instant replay.
*Let’s just chuck the whole thing when it comes to Ms Zimmer and her accusations!
Totally innocent on that one count!
What the hell, throw the kid a bone!*
You suggested that “Let’s” (Let us? Whoever “us” is doesn’t seem to include me/myself/eye) drop the discussion of Zimmer accusations against Christie. Zimmer hasn’t/can’t/won’t dispute the accusations against HER and HER version of what happened. Since Zimmer won’t back up her own story, it makes little sense for you to offer to “chuck the whole thing” (aka concede the point) when Zimmer has already done that.
Do not eat catfish sushi. Do not eat catfish sushi. You are getting sleepy. Do not eat catfish sushi. (Is this mental telepathy thing working?) ![]()
This balls in Zimmer’s court. The media outlets could press Zimmer for clarification of her statements (or not) or Zimmer could hold her own press conference to explain the discrepancies (or not).
Breaking news: a grand jury is taking testimony from one of Christie’s aides. Whether anybody is ever indicted is unknown, but looks like the feds are taking this very seriously indeed.
Another late Friday newsdump.
They still have to plump Christie up again following his apology for screwing up the Sheldon Adelson ring kissing.
Mmm, smooch smooch, nom nom nom, mmm, smooch…
I wouldn’t classify this as a Friday dump. The grand jury may have questioned others in this case, they don’t talk. It just so happened that ABC had a crew outside the courtroom and out walks Christie’s guy (press secy?) and it’s like “Whoa! Fancy seeing YOU here!”
You’re right of course. I did see that on the news last night.

What is “breaking” about a grand jury interviewing a Christie aide? Haven’t the multiple investigations already been interviewing Christie aides, Christie appointees, Christie high school classmates, Port Authority employees, landlords, and ex-inlaws?
The fact that they interviewed another someone isn’t “breaking” news. Knowing what that someone told the grand jury could be breaking news.
Given that this is the first indication that a grand jury is hearing testimony, I’d say it is breaking news. The investigation has entered a new criminal phase. If Christie wasn’t nervous before, he should be now.
I’d just like to point out a further contrast between how Christie handles this sort of thing and our President(and his supporters):
Christie admits that he did an internal investigation because he had to, and understands that it’s not the final word and that other investigations are still pending.
The administration does an internal investigation, declares the matter settled, and declares that all other investigations are illegitimate.
