A few weeks nago, I was in North Miami Beach. I went (in the evening) to a local McDonalds, to use the WiFi service. I bought a cup of coffee and plaugged in my notebook PC, and went to work. About 30 minutes later, a bunch of teenage/young adult males entered…they appeared to be bouisterous, but waited in line at the counter to place their orders. all of a sudden, a “fight” broke out-one kid started throwing punches at another, while the rest started shouting. The manager started yelling at them to quiet down-but this continued for about 5 minutes-then the manager shouted “I’m calling the police!”-immediately, the bunch broke up and ran out the front door-I looked out, and they all piled into a waiting (getaway?) car.
the whole thing was over so quickly that i didn’t realize what was going on.
I thought there might be two possibilities:
-this was planned to be a “grab and run” robbery-I don’t know how McDonald’s handles cash-but i assume they would have a fair amount at 5:00 PM
-it was a personal injury lawsuit inthe making-somebody would claim an injury and sue McDonalds
What is you conclusion?
I read this
And my first thought was, “Yes. You were in N Beach. You probably did just witness a robbery attempt.”
When I lived in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, I was driving to work one day, on a side street that’s a block or two from the Broward County Courthouse and I witnessed this car speeding down the street, coming right at me in my lane. I pulled over to a sidewalk parking spot to get the hell outta the way. The car sped past me, screeched to a halt behind some building, and two guys flung the doors open and started running. A couple seconds later, three FTL PD cars come screaming down the street, stop at the abandoned car, and somewhere around that point, I put my car back in gear and went on to work. I figured, I’d seen enough for one morning.
Another morning, I noticed this dude walking down the street and a car pulled up to him. He reached in for a second, looked like something exchanged hands, and the car pulled away and the guy kept walking. Pretty sure that was a drug deal I saw on my way to work.
I loved living in South Florida. Always lots of action!
Or maybe it was just a bunch of kids. I work in a boys’ school. This is how boys behave.
Yeah, I can’t be the only one who read the OP and thought, “Option 3: You saw a bunch of jackasses behaving like, well, jackasses.”

Wow, FTL huh? I’m surprised it took them so long to get there.
Sounds like kids acting like retards until they were threatened with the police.
You witnessed some teenage dorks.
Did anybody mention money? Did anybody lunge for a register? Did they do anything other than be idiots fighting in a MacDonalds? Did somebody scare them off just by mentioning the police?
You witnessed some teenage dorks.
Best wishes,
hh
Well, as i say, it all happened so quickly-it looked like kids horsing around-but the “getaway car” seemed suspicious to me-that isn’t kids "horsing around’-it implies a plan of some sort.
Better call the cops and report them just to be sure.
What makes it a getaway car? Couldn’t it have just been the car the group arrived in, intending to get some food before the ruckus broke out?
Came in to read the thread and get waved at! Gave me a smile ::waves::
“See something, say something.” You should have Secretary Napolitano on speed dial, don’t you know that?
Sounds like teenage jackasses to me too.
