Which may be the silver lining. I see today there was a school bus shooting in Las Vegas. So that kid who shot up the mall in Omaha was what - three shootings ago now? And his stated goal was to be famous? Sure, for a few hours.

I know it’s just a statistical blip, but I’d be happy to go back to the ‘celebrities without panties’ blip.
And yet, defensive gun use by private citizens almost never makes the papers.
Sure, a lot of it never comes to official attention. But the lady who stopped the recent church massacre was described as a security guard, when she wasn’t quite, just former police, who happened to be carrying a firearm.
Some time ago, two students stopped another massacre in the making, by retrieving guns from their vehicles. Mainstream media never mentioned, or downplayed the defensive gun use, reporting that the perp ‘had been stopped’, played up the rescuers athletic ability, leading you to belive he was just tackled and subdued.
There is a bill floating around, looking for a sponsor, that would make facilities and institutions who create ‘free fire zones’ (no guns allowed) liable for the consequences of the policy. I’m torn between property rights and the Bill of Rights. Shall not be infringed has a very hollow, ironic ring, now.

Quit watching the idiot box. The “news” is constructed in such a way as to cause thinking errors in the populace so that the current system can continue its stranglehold on us. Crime is the same or less than in the past, but the news continues to get hysterical and hype the incidents that do happen. Do you think that widespread mob mentality fear is OK? (Because that’s the idea - that’s what mainstream media are trying to promote) Then keep watching. Want to live in a peaceful world and enjoy less anxiety? Then quit watching.
Sure crime is down, unless you are a pretty, young, blond woman. They seem to always have something happening to them.
