Did James Lipton and Will Ferrell (as JL) face off?

…or I’m I just imagining it?

I could sware I saw Will Ferrell doing his impersonation of James Lipton face to face with James Lipton. I remember it being quite a hilarious sketch (though admittedly I don’t remember many specifics). Yet I can’t find any video of it online, nor even a mention of it. Did I possibly dream it? Can it possibly not exist and I’m just inventing the memory in my mind?

I think in Will’s final show as a cast member that James Lipton did show up and surprise him. That might be what you are thinking of.

On a related note, Joe Cocker once sang a duet with John Belushi doing his Joe Cocker impersonation.

I too remember it. Throughout the thing Lipton was insulting Ferrell with his answers (e.g. Ferrell-as-Lipton asks the infamous, “If there is a Heaven, and you go there, what would you want to hear God say to you as you arrive?” Lipton’s answer: “Will Ferrell is in the other place.”).

I don’t remember where it was, tho’.

Ferrill made a full-fledged appearance in full makeup and in character on the Inside The Actors Studio stage, in Lipton’s chair (stage left) and essentially interviewed him. He eventually broke character and they chatted normally a little.

It was shown on the Actor’s Studio special (200th guest I think) a while ago. And yes, it was hilarious! Can’t find it on YouTube…

I was surprised I didn’t even see a mention of it on Lipton’s wikipedia page. At least I feel more confident now that this actually happened.

I’ll have to nose around some more for a clip tomorrow after some sleep.

G’nite.

James Lipton had a cameo interviewing Ferrell’s character in the horrid movie version of Bewitched.

Found it on YouTube!

Watch it before its gone. Freakin’ hilarious!

Thanks, oh my god, that’s fantastic.

No, it was a delight.

Thank you for this.
