Did Max use the gas for the truck or the gyro?

Dear Fans:

Little time to write. In The Road Warrior, Max says “5 gallons of high octane gasoline, and all the diesel I can carry” or something like that.

I always thought the gas was to help start the truck, but latley I figger he needed to get some tac-air in effect.

I thought the gas was payment for his services and he was gonna use the gas for his personal use in his car

“To do the job l need five gallons of diesel and some high-octane gazzaline.”

The former was for the truck and the latter was for the autogyro.

The deal was that once he completed the job, he got back his car and all of the juice he could carry.

To elaborate, Max’s plan was to sneak out past the gangers at night, carrying the aforementioned fuel to where he’d left the gyrocaptain. He’d then have him fly both of them to the semi tractor he’d found at the beginning of the film, put the diesel in it, and drive back to the compound.

It’s possible I may have seen this movie a few too many times. I often find myself pronouncing “gasoline” the way Max does in that scene, though I’m even less Australian than Mel Gibson.

I watched The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome over the new years, when they were on AMC. I tend to watch TV with subs on to be sure I don’t miss anything. As I recall, the subs called it “guzzoline.”

Wait, I thought this scene is earlier and is referring to him going and getting the big rig and bringing it back to the fort? The diesel is for the truck and the high-octane *gazzoleen *was for his car (to go get the truck in the first place in).

No, the refinery folks wouldn’t give him back his car until he retrieved the big rig. They (probably rightly) assumed that he’d just take off if he had it and a few gallons of juice.

They were also planning to use it themselves in their eventual breakout. After all, it’s not every day that you get your hands on the last of the V8 interceptors.
