man, this sucks. Heard on Stern this morning and was bummed all day. He was the first comedian I’ve laughed hard at in a loooong time. Why do all the funny ones have to OD?

Aw, that sucks. I was just thinking about the guy on Tuesday. I’ve only seen a little of his stuff, but I liked his style and his delivery- he sounded like a rocker frozen in September 1969 and thawed out in Los Angeles last week.
Hedberg’s booking agent’s phone number is listed on Hedberg’s website. I called. The agent confirmed that Hedberg died yesterday of undisclosed causes and said they were not prepared to make a statement at this time.
Sad. Very sad.
Of course he could just be faking it.
Then again, he doesn’t seem like that type of comedian.
I was reminded of him a few weeks ago at the mall. The escalator was broken, and blocked. “Mitch Hedburg was wrong!” I exclaimed to my girlfriend. I just got a strange look in return.
“You’ll never see a sign on an escalator that says, ‘Temporarily out of order’. You’ll just see a sign that says, ‘Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience.’”

I saw him last year with Lewis Black & Dave Attel. I had heard of him and didn’t realize he was opening, and was really stoked to see him!
Very funny dude, great “character” (or if it’s his real self, he’s quite a character!) and kept the whole auditorium rolling for the length of his set.
Oddly enough I was just about to dwnlad some of his stuff…

How sad and what a waste of an incredible talent. He was one of my favorite comedians. I had just turned a friend on to him a few weeks ago.
I’m really beginning to believe that saying, “Only the good die young”.
I liked him, it’s too bad. Somehow Bob Saget is allowed to still make jokes. The world ain’t fair I guess.
