A personable of questionable repute claims they did do these as part of the “I am Jane’s/ Joe’s XXX” series detailing various major and minor human organ functions, but I am skeptical that the staid Reader’s Digest would ever do this. Did they?
I know they did one on “I am Jane’s Ovary”, but I don’t know about the others.
I believe I recall one called “I Am Joe’s Prostate,” but I am also skeptical that they would have done articles on penis or vagina specifically.
Google is negative for both. (“I am Joe’s penis” had three irrelevant hits.) As sample similar searches (different body parts) did have Reader’s Digest related hits, I strongly suspect the answer is no.
If that’s the case I’m thinking it’s time for a SDSAB (or professional in a applicable field) report to clear up all this penis ignorance.
"I Am Joe’s Man Gland" appeared in the November 1970 issue of Reader’s Digest. Here
Neither google nor alltheweb give many hits on the article, but I do recall the wierd title from back in high school.
Thanks for the heads up Squink!
And here are Joe and Jane’s other organs listed on that link.
Is the other gland his right testis? Why would the left look better?
And I knew about Joe’s man gland from a wonderful song and album from the Seattle-based Electric Bonsai Band, colorfully entitled: I am Joe’s Eyes.
I think it’s a typo. Should probably be “other glands.”
I love Seattle.
Peace,

(BTW, “I am Jack’s colon.” is from Fight Club. Could there have been a connection?)
I don’t get the “Fight Club” reference …?
My second-grade teacher lent me a copy of I Am Joe’s Body, and I remember that it had a section on the reproductive system. I didn’t know that it was a series of articles from Reader’s Digest, and I don’t know if that section was ever published in the magazine, but it was in the book.
Fight Club was indeed inspired by Reader’s Digest. There’s a scene where you can clearly see the Narrator reading The Annotated Reader–a clear homage to RD.

To flush out the Fight Club reference a bit for those who don’t know:
The main characters are in the basement of the abandonded house, and one is reading through a bunch of old books in a box. The books are a ‘genericised’ version of Reader’s Digest, and the two characters have a laugh over some of the articles in the “I am Joe’s…” series.
Later a twist on those article titles plays out in the narration of the story. (Might even be several times, IIRC)
Along these same lines, but hilarious, National Lampoon did a couple of pieces, “My Penis” and “My Vagina”, each of whose first-person narrators wakes up with the parts of the opposite sex.
Highly recommended reading for those with a puerile sense of humor. I wish I could find those online, but I’d hesitate doing a search for such.
Submitted for your approval:
My Penis
My Vagina
[aside]I got these links by doing a google search on “national lampoon” “my penis”. Using the quotation marks makes google look for the whole phrase, eliminating many links you don’t want to see (and also speeding the search.)
Oh yeah, due to the language used on those pages, they are not work safe, if you hadn’t figured that one out already.
