whenever i hear the “el nino” phrase i always think of Chris Farley.
oh, and on the advertising on the Winter Olympics… CTV the canadian broadcaster of it is way over done. There’s this song commercial that runs for like 5minutes. I swear i hate seeing that commercial.
So true. By the end of the superbowl, my wife phoned the MIL to sarcastically ask “Do you believe”? Stupid tagline. It’s become a household joke…
Do you believe a country that never bothered to put any money into supporting amateur athletes can suddenly win tons of medals after a four-year investment?
Maybe they have enough money this time because the Olympics are at home, they won’t blow the budget sending the non-athlete sports officials to the games.
Seriously, in the last summer olympics they said they would only finance athletes and send them to the games if they had a hope of winning a medal. Well, there goes half your medals, since several every games seem to be surprise wins. IIRC it was 8 years ago they had to cut back on sending athletes because they needed the money to send Olympic and sports big shots to the games to schmooze the rest of the (non-athlete) elite. In the last summer olympics, Byelorussia was ahead of us in the medal count for a while…
To see the curling championships! (Yawn)
and what about such thrillers as biathlon?
And ice dancing!
The thrills go on!
I want to see the men’s downhill, and the hockey…and that’s about it.

There’s a youtube video there. I highly doubt any americans can see it, if they blocked it on its site so fast. Seems like NBC doesn’t want you guys to see what CTV is doing for the olympics.
Try and use all the above info to find the song or 3minute video that was used as a commercial for the winter games. It’s one of the longest things i ever seen on TV. I’m a channel changer when commercials air and i usually bounced back to see if that commercial was over like 20times. That thing is like an eternity.
addition. I just saw in the google searches that “The View” (american TV show has the exact same link on their website.) Perhaps you should be able to see it.
