Did the US save Europe in WWII? And from whom?

What would have happened if the British had never entered the war?

Or, more importantly, what would have happened in the Soviets had not been forced to enter the war?

What would America be like today if the Germans had achieved their goals in Europe and Asia?

I find these equally interesting questions; unfortunately, nobody else seems to.

I don’t get it. Are you arguing that Germany and Japan were the good guys in ww2?

Good point, well made. And in a timely fashion too.

Well played sir!

Nonsense. Plenty of neutral countries still favour one country over the other.

WTF? Ever heard of the Rape of Nanking? Not to mention from a purely practical point of view that Japan conquering China would have tremendous amounts of resources and power.

They nonetheless killed thousands of American sailors and blew up dozens of warships.

Because it is one of the few countries that were free?

The Communists were fairly minor in China in 1941.

True but we had to defeat the Nazis and the Bushidoists first.

No it wouldn’t. Japan didn’t want to join in Barabossa after they got crushed by the Soviets in the Battle of Khalkin Gol.

No it wouldn’t because first of all it would have been a Nazi Europe not merely a fascist one where millions of Jews and other “undesirables” would have murdered. The Soviet brutality reached its limits, the Nazis did not.

The Soviets and Brits could have won World War II without us but at an insane cost-the war drags on a few more years probably and the Soviets reach the Rhine or even the Atlantic while the Brits develop the A-Bomb first. This means a largely Communist Europe, Japan in a Chinese quagmire, a few million more dead Soviets, a few hundred thousand more dead Brits, a few more million from the Holocaust, no Marshall Plan and no reconstruction of Europe, and you’ve got the nucleus for the Eurasian superstate of 1984.

You’re right, and for some reason I find this depressing :frowning:

You wish WW2 would have lasted longer, perhaps ?

Had Germany not declared war on the USA after Pearl Harbor - not Hitler’s brightest move - surely emphasis for the Soviet/British forces would have been the Balkan and Middle East oil fields - strangle the fuckers.

The Soviets would have done most of the heavy lifting on Terre firma and the UK at sea.
