Did they ever make a movie out of Peter Benchley's 'White Shark'?

I seem to remember vaguely that they did make a movie out of Peter Benchley’s WHITE SHARK…but I am not certain. Does anyone know?

Are you thinking of The Beast, which was made into a TV movie starring the CSI dude.
It was very dry.

I enjoyed reading White Shark, but the concept got a little weird near the end.
Not one of Benchley’s best beach-reads.

Certainly not one of Benchley’s best beach reads…but it was set in my town…I was just wondering if there was a film about it. No it wasn’t BEAST, that was about a giant squid terrorizing Bermuda.

I believe the 1998 miniseies Creature was based on White Shark.

The 1996 miniseies of *The Beast *changed the location to Washington or Oregon but was filmed in Queensland, Australia.
