Did this commercial creep you out?

Both the Pearl Harbor and Rainbow Six commercials creep me out. I haven’t thought it through, but I have a negative impression of both. Granted, I’m hardly the target market for these games…but usually I’m just indifferent. The more I see these commercials, my dislike becomes active.

And, like SHAKES, I’ve been fooled repeatedly by the commercials for the LOTR game.

I thought this thread was going to be about the OnStar commercial which features the OnStar person in a meant-for-us-to-think-it’s-a-real-call saying something like “Sir? We see your airbag deployed. Sir? Can you hear me? … Help is on the way…”

Carry on.

That creeps me out, yeah.

But most war glorification creeps me out. I’ve read a lot of war history, and what goes on during war is NOT glamorous. (Of course, I can’t bring up any examples to pro-war folks, because it provokes a “lalala I can’t hear you!” response, so . . .) Never having BEEN in war, all I can say about it is the first-hand accounts I’ve read, and general history, but eugh.

I think all this war glorification going on is a kind of propoganda - “Dude, if you join the military, you’re going to be in elite forces, do exciting things constantly, kill thousands of Bad Guys, see nothing disturbing (other than dead bodies of the Bad Guys), never get hurt (at least not seriously), and not be ordered to do things that are against your morals!”

Sigh. Sorry for the rants, but any war game/movie creeps me out. I don’t allow them in my home (unfortunatly for my fiance, who [used to] like them).

I support the troops, not the war.

That made my hair stand on end when I saw it. There’s also one where a little girl presses the button because her mom quit breathing or something and she didn’t know what to do. Scary!
