This may be the first time in my adult life that I’m cheering on the CEOs of big corporations.
I think one useful metric by which to judge any of Trump’s problems, is who is he fighting with? Is it just the Democrats and the media? Or is it parts of his own coalition? The more of the latter, the more trouble Trump is in.
Right now he looks like in an awful amount of trouble. On this issue he is going against the grain of his own party, his own administration and even his own family. He is fighting prominent CEO’s. Before this he has picked damaging fights with McConnell and Sessions.
If Mueller uncovers some serious dirt on Trump, e.g. Russia-related financial crimes, I think Trump could be impeached in six months. There is a common misunderstanding that impeachment will only happen if there is some huge moral awakening on the part of the Republican congress. In reality, all it needs is the calculation that their interests are better served by a President Pence. We are not far from that point.
Ride the snake, he’s old, and his skin is cold
The west is the best, the west is the best
Get here, and we’ll do the rest
The blue bus is callin’ us, the blue bus is callin’ us
Driver, where you taken us
The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall

Besides, every time you use an apostrophe to create a plural, a puppy dies.
An outcome to be wished for, but sadly, ain’t gonna happen. Due to a shortage of spines and gonads in Congress.
Spines and gonads not required – Congress critters just have to figure out that their constituency has soured on Trump and will like them better if they turf him out.
It was interesting watching the Manufacturing Council and the Strategy and Policy Forum disintegrate before our very eyes. It was kind of like forming this club and making yourself the president of it and then everybody gets disgusted with you and leaves, so you end up being the president of yourself in this big empty room, and defiantly disbanding the club and going home. It’s called “leadership”! ![]()
The Trump regime continues to be unmitigated chaos everywhere you look. He was right in his campaign claim; I’m already tired of all this “winning”. Is there anyone that this idiot has NOT alienated? In fact, by caving to extreme public pressure, he’s even managed to alienate his best buddies the Nazis and white supremacists, and even though it’s clear he didn’t mean it and tried to backtrack later, the Nazis probably won’t be his best friends any more after he reluctantly agreed to say mean things about them.
Right…like they’re doing about this latest unstomachable thing that he’s done. Their reaction has amounted to saying, “Tsk, tsk, tsk.”
I’d like some cites on that last. So far all the evidence that I’ve seen says that the white supremacists think he approves of them.
Wrong thread…
The CEOs and whatever don’t want to deal with rabid attacks. So, they will leave the council publicly and still benefit from the rollback of regulation and taxes. It’s a win/win.
At the hands of a grocer.
You seem to want to overlook the fact that both the Manufacturing Council and the Strategy and Policy Forum were working groups with specific missions, both comprised of the very top tier of the most accomplished executives in the nation – the Manufacturing Council alone had 28 of them, with the goal of advising the president on manufacturing initiatives and policies, and the other one had the goal of advancing policy on job creation and economic growth. Now the moron has nothing, because no one can work with him. Nice try, though. I think if Trump took a shit in the middle of the Oval Office carpet you would praise him as a hero of sustainable environmentalism. Which, figuratively, is what he’s been doing to the Presidency and to the country.
They do think he approves of them (because he DOES approve of them. For one thing, they’re the last group left that has never uttered criticism of him; for another thing, he genuinely does share their views. And if I see one more person post 'I don’t think Trump’s a racist himself, but he does seem to hire people with racist views’ I shall protest strongly. It’s time to retire that too-common, clearly-false meme.)
At any rate, there IS a potential problem for Trump in the fact that he gave in to pressure and read the text “Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans” on Monday.
They know he didn’t mean it. But their worldview is that “giving in” is contemptible. It’s weak. It’s girly. It’s bad and wrong in every way.
So they are processing some cognitive dissonance about Trump that they didn’t have to deal with before the Monday remarks.
It won’t lead them to reject him, but it will lurk under the surface. They’re already a bit skeptical due to his “giving his daughter” to (gasp) A Jew:

Trump can’t really relax and bask in the adoration of the racists. He won’t want to think about that, but it’s a fact.
That’s wonderful reading you have there. What have these councils accomplished?
And you really think I want people defecating on the floor of the White House? You truly believe that?
What chance did they have to accomplish anything? They sure as hell are not going to accomplish anything now that they no longer exist! And if they were useless, why did your hero make such a big deal out of tying up the almost inestimably valuable time of 44 of the nation’s pinnacle of top corporate leaders?
Nice try again, this time for feigning innocent righteous indignation by pretending to not understand parody. The point, obviously, is that you will defend Trump no matter what he does. Cite: everything you have ever posted. Here’s another example of parody, directly pertinent to the thread, in case you really do have trouble recognizing it!
I don’t blindly defend or attack Trump. I didn’t even vote for the man. If he runs again I might depending on how violently his supporters are attacked.
His supporters should be taken out and shot. Metaphorically
Now there’s a great voting rationale.
I’m not clear why this would influence your vote, at all.
Oh, tote’s okay’s, Thelmy.
Just checking. So far our dog’s are just fine…
But I can’t speak for the octopode’s I know. They seem to be flailing their tentacle’s …
If you use quotation marks for emphasis, Trump gains a voter. stares
