“Ass” and “arse” are not two separate words…it’s just like “check” and “cheque”. They’re spelled a little differently, and prounounced a little differently due to custom and dialect, but a little kid in the states is going to get their mouth washed out with soap for saying “Shite” to their mother just the same.
“Color” is to “colour” as “shit” is to “shite”. There’s no excuse for the censors letting it go other than they were just too lazy or didn’t give a damn.
