Did Windows Fix This Or Am I Missing Something?

This is a general question, but it’s in relation to me making music, so I’m putting it in CS. If a mod feels that it’s better suited for GQ, please feel free to move it.

I’m bored, so I’m making my own Strong Bad Techno remix. Yeah, I know, hardly original, but like I said - I’m bored. Well, I’d like to throw in some more soundbites from other cartoons. On my old computer, I used to be able to just record right off of my sound card. For instance, I’d play the cartoon and then record the sound coming out of the speakers with Goldwave 2.14. When I try this with my new computer (Sony Vaio), I get no audio signal in the recording. I’ve tried adjusting the various volume controls in Windows and I’m still getting nothing. I can hear it over my speakers, but nothing registers for my recording.

For what it’s worth, my sound card is a Realtek AC97 Audio card.

Any ideas?

Okay, I’m gonna give this post one more go. If there are no replies further, I’ll assume it’s a big negatory on an answer.

Is line out enabled under volume control properties?

(BTW: you should generally provide more info: OS version, etc.)

Double-click on your speaker to open up the volume settings. Click on Options and Properties. Select Recording and press OK. Then make sure the right device is selected. I’m not sure what the right device is (it changes with configurations), so just try 'em one by one if it’s not obvious.
