Did you associate Lindsay Lohan with the eTrade commercial?

What gets me is, although I’m not a lawyer, it wouldn’t matter if they did intentionally use her surname.

[li]She’s a public figure and therefore open to parody.[/li][li]Her party-girl image is common knowledge and therefore not damaging to her career or herself.[/li][/ol]
This will get thrown out asap. Should charge her with filing a frivolous lawsuit!

Nah, never thought of Lohan.

I used to date a Lindsay and, although she wasn’t a milkaholic, that’s the first thing that springs to mind if I hear the name used without obvious association to someone else.

If I thought about it at all, probably yes. She would be the only Linday that I can think of. But I didn’t give it much thought.

I’ll grant you that. Someone in a high dollar marketing firm gives commercial minutia way more thought than the average consumer. However, it’s overkill because despite their intention it’s still too large of a reach for an overwhelming portion of the target audience to make the connection. I love the commercial and have specifically pointed it out to my family as being hilarious. However, the mention of the name “Lindsey” is so subtle that I couldn’t for a $1000 have told you afterwards what it was. It was just a throw-away, dismissive reference.

I’m not disagreeing with you. I can see how it may well have been intentional, but it was so nuanced that if that was the case then it was completely ineffective.

You betcha. They knew very well what they were doing, and I immediately thought of Lohan. She should be grateful somebody thinks of her occasionally; maybe a casting director will.

No, call him LeBron. Now there’s a lawsuit with legs.

I agree that the reference was intentional, but I don’t think Lohan deserves any damages. Plus, it’s bogus to wait this long to file the lawsuit, after it’s been playing for weeks. Now she’s claiming that she deserves higher damages because lots of people saw the commercial during the Winter Olympics, too. Please.

Please think about my daughter. That way she can call you as a witness in her lawsuit.

I had seen this ad many times before LL’s suit and to tell the truth, if you asked me what the name of the ‘milkaholic’ was after I watched it, I couldn’t have told you.

The word ‘milkaholic’ is more the attention getter for me, because I find it funny. I could care less about what her name was. The fact that she was a Lindsay didn’t make it any funnier to me.

Nope. When I think of the name “Lindsay”, I think of my favorite Deal Or No Deal model, case #26. Oh, how I miss her. And #10. And #13.

I still don’t get why anyone would assume it was her. I read the OP, clicked on the YouTube link, and I still didn’t think it was her. If anything, I’d’ve thought they were talking about the actual girlfriend baby.

Had they made the milkaholic look like her or sound like her or something, maybe I could see it. But all they have is a first name.

Those of you asserting that it is. It’s on you to prove your assertion. Give us a reason you think it was about her besides “She’s a popular girl named Lindsay, so it had to have been about her.”

I didn’t think of her, nor do I believe they did it on purpose. “Lindsay” is just too popular a name, and Lohan too B-list, for a significant number of viewers to have made the connection.

If they had named the baby “Paris,” for example, I’d think differently. But Lohan doesn’t have the single-name recognition she thinks she does.

Comparing Michael Jordan – probably the greatest b-ball player ever - to Lindsay Lohan is crazy.

My first and last names (separately) have been the butt of humor since I was old enough to understand the concept of a joke, but you don’t see me suing anybody over it.

Maybe if Lohan were a milkaholic, she wouldn’t be such a walking train wreck.

One more thing: When did she join the ranks of the “one names” (Madonna, Prince, Cher, Beyonce, Sting, et.al.)? Must have missed that headline, just like she did.

I think Lindsay needs to dry out and STFU.

Lindsey Lohan? Seriously?

If anyone asked who the most famous “Lindse(a)y” is over the past month it would easily be Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. You know: Cover of Sports Illustrated, controversial cover of Sports Illustrated, Won a Gold medal last month, was on Jay Leno’s much touted first night return to the Tonight Show.

She has easily been this year’s person most associated with LINDSEY name.

What the hell has Lindsay Lohan done lately?

When I heard about the lawsuit, Bluth was the first Lindsay to spring to mind, along with Lindsay Weir. I just happen to be watching AD episodes now on the Independent Film Channel and recently watched all of Freaks and Geeks for the first time.

The chick from the Prairie Home Companion movie? I usually see her referenced as LiLo, who IMO should be sued by J-Lo.

Where does Lyndsey Buckingham fit into this?

Who in turn should be sued by Jell-o.

But I will from now on.

I’m very surprised there are 16 people as of this writing that answered yes to this. I really would have expected maybe 1 or 2 at most, and 0 wouldn’t have shocked me.

Yeah, the conspiracy theorist in me thinks this was a ploy to get Lohan some publicity.
It’s done more good for e*trade publicity than Logan though.

I just blipped through the name when I heard it. It was one of those things where I couldn’t have told you the “milkawhaaa???” girls name after the commercial was over. Now I’ll never forget it.
