We have a dining room complete with china cabinet and buffet. The table has a leaf we put in for family dinners and parties.
The first time my daughter visited us the leaf was still in from a recent party and I had her convinced that we ate all our meals at this table with me on one end and my gf waaay down at the other end.

The house that I grew up in had a 30’X15’ kitchen that couldhold 3 of the folding tables borrowedfrom the church when we’d host thanksgiving dinner for Mom’s side of the family. There was also a dining room, but no table there untilone was inherited. We were working class.
Even in my 700 square foot apartment, there’s room in the kitchen (great room really, but I only count the linoleum part as the kitchen) to extend the gate leg table to seat six.
