…if it’s some new , more subtle SDMB inside joke?
Lately , I’ve been seeing a number of posts where the writer begins a word or phrase with the coding for italics , but ends it with the coding for boldface (or vice versa). I could see it happening once or twice by mistake , but , to me , it seems to be spreading.
I’m not sure how to provide a link , but the most recent example I saw was in the great Scylla’s thread.
I apologize if I’ve spoiled the fun of anyone who was purposely mis-coding things ,
or if I’ve inadvertantly chagrined anyone who has been mistakenly doing this.
I’ve seen* it, but I don’t think it means* anything at all.
Anytime I’ve done it (which is more times than I care to admit to), it’s because I did not preview.
I wouldn’t sweat it. It’s just a bit 'o miscoding. When new in-jokes pop up, they’re usually pretty hard to miss.
Sausage.
I dunno. I still haven’t figured out the “sausage” bit.
And what’s even funnier, I didn’t even see this until I posted!
I hadn’t noticed an increase in miscoding.
Ah…But that’s what makes it so subtle , if it’s an in-joke.
