Did you know that all women have periods? (link included)

Did you know that all women have periods every four weeks lasting three to four days?

Did you know that blood comes out from an opening between your legs?

Did you know that even Miss Jones has a period?

Did you know that a sanitary pad has a blue side and a white side?
If you answered no to any of these questions the following educational video will teach you.

This link is to a video which lasts 10 mins. If you have a slow connection, then you will have a loooong wait.

Oh Lord! Wherever did you find this?? I got as far as Susie’s line “Come on, Jill. I’ll show you. I’m having my period right now,” and I had to stop because it just got too bizarre! Thank you Mommy and Daddy for not making me a show business kid! Wouldn’t you die if you were in a video like this?

Oh Holy God!!! I lied! I watched a little more, but I wish I hadn’t! I can’t believe they actually showed a used pad.

Scariest
Title
Ever

You have to watch the whole thing…Really.

As for the “used pad” scene. Imagine a little 9 year old watching that. My Og! Imagine thinking you haemorrage like that every month!! Talk about scare the kiddies.

I have just been informed that that could be the actual amount by AngelicGemma and in fact could be heavier. OH. MY. GOD.

In fact that scene would be the perfect educational video for young boys. Think how quickly teenage sex would drop when they realise that that is what goes on “down there”

Did you find it repetitive? They repeated a lot. I found it to be very repetitive. You know, with all that repetition. Why so repetitious? Wow, they sure did repeat things often.

I gave up after Daddy spoke to her. GEEZ that’s annoying. No kid would sit through that!

Yeah, as soon as the mom hiked up her dress and sat on the can, I was thinking, “WTF kind of video is this? Ugh!”

Then they showed the ‘aftermath’ of the sanitary napkin  I had to shut it off at that point. Even I have my limits

OMG, did I just gross out lieu? I feel so honoured.

To Incubus: I take it you didn’t get to the bit where the little girl hikes up her skirt. It was quite risky to keep watching. Seriously…this close to child pornography. But thankfully not.

I think it might be for teaching retarded children–I thought the little girl looked like she had Down’s. That would explain why it was so explicit and repetitive.

I can understand repetition in your argument, and the need for visuals but explicit visuals??? I got the Down’s idea as well. But I’d still like to see a class of kiddies sit down and watch this. Perhaps with some “Clockwork Orange” eye restraints. But that’s just the sadist in me.

BTW, Gaudere. Do you have periods??

Did anyone else think that perhaps the little girl had Down Syndrome or some other kind of disability?

I am so offput by the whole thing that I can’t quite form coherent thought, but I was struck by the fact that something about little Jill didn’t seem quite correct, which makes the production of that particular thing all that more frightening, but could explain it if it was meant as a hygiene training movie for mentally disabled girls.

I’m quite sure the little girl had Down’s Syndrome, and I would bet you dollars to donuts that this was intended as an educational-type video for parents of mentally disabled kids, or for teachers of same. Frankly, I think it would be VERY useful for people who work with kids like those with Down’s.

I babysat a girl with Down’s for many, many years, and explaining things to her was just like that. Lots of repetition (being careful to use the same phrasing over and over again). I also know that she had zero ability for abstraction. Her bedtime was at 10:00. Not 9:58. If I even HINTED at getting ready for bed a little bit early, she’d argue with me until the clock said 10:00, and then she’d agree that it was bedtime. So showing a used pad in the movie would be entirely appropriate, because (what I imagine to be) the target audience would not be capable of imagining what a used one would look like, or what to do with it, etc.

So yeah, it was a little freaky and off-putting, but things like that aren’t taboo for people who aren’t capable of understanding things without explicit, repeated explanations. I think it’s kind of admirable that someone took the time to make that film. It’s certainly more informative and honest than any of the stupid “coming of age” films I had to watch in school for sex ed.

Oh, I thought I was going to be all cool and watch the whole thing, but I chickened out around “Come on, Jill, I’m having my period now! I’ll show you!”

Which is dumb, because I’m obviously accustomed to the idea - all women have periods, you know.

It must be a hygene video for disabled young women. That would explain the creepy vibe, what with the redundancy and all. It’s a market need that I’d never even thought about before this very moment.

“Do men have periods?”

"No honey, We have a God Given Penis that makes us recoil in horror at the mere mention of blood/period/menstruation/cramps. "

Sorry, I fully expected to hear that.
Women have periods in 1960. for about twenty minutes.

What?

I didn’t know that. Not many people do.

“Marianas Trench” suddenly has a whole new meaning to me.

If you’re cool enough to understand what I mean by MST3K then watch it again and give it the once-over. I find it most amusing, when the girl asks her dad about periods, just to add the words, “Aww crap!”

Oh sweet Jesus, this post rivals NoClueBoy’s “sticky” post. I’m still laughing over it, and I’m on dial-up right now, so you know it took a long time to load the reply page.

I guess we should be lucky the little girl wasn’t shown how to use a tampon.
“Watch Jill, I just grab the string and give it a good pull…”

Okay, I must have missed the 1960s-for-twenty-minutes memo. Care to enlighten?

Do a search for “Marianas Trench” ivylass. I’m sure all will become clear.

Thanks for the praise JimSox. I figure I have moments of inspiration. But that means it’s plain old posts for a while. :frowning:
