Did your mama dress you funny?

After I’m done complaining about what I wore, I always wonder what my girls will think when they’re grown. They wear a lot of handmedowns, but they’re pretty cute (we like the athletic look more than the sparkly look here) and I think they’re adorable and stylish. I sew for them, but remembering some of the things I had, I try to make them fashionable. Now that sewing is cool it’s pretty easy to do. But I wonder…

Not too badly, actually.

My mom’s style when she was younger was a bit artsy/boho. She was never super into fashion as far as fads and trends go, so we escaped some of the embarrassing fleeting trends.

I mostly lived in my school uniform and my dance or gymnastics clothes. The dresses and such that I had for special occasions were pretty simple. I had a lot of hand-me-downs, but it wasn’t really an issue for me because all my friends from school wore the same uniform as I did and all my friends from dance and gymnastics wore leotards and tights/shorts/pants. So it’s not like I was frequently hanging out with people who were more fashionable than I was.
