Die Hard is on AGAIN

I turn on the tv maybe 3 or 4 times a week, and I swear I see this movie once a week. Is it my imagination?

Nope. TBS must’ve broadcasted it (or one of the sequels) at least 5-6 times over the last three weeks.

Oh my God the quaterbacks toast

What’s worse is that I’m watching it, again.

Oh, I’m gonna keep using these #%@&* codes 'til I get 'em right.

Just happened to be flipping through the channels… you’ll never guess what’s on AGAIN.

I actually like this dumb movie. Hans Gruber’s negotiating tactics should be studied in business school. And he’s such a babe!

I’m not a fallen angel, I’m a risen demon.

Yeah, Alan Rickman (Hans) makes a wonderful
villain, doesn’t he? (And, yes, he is a babe.) Loved him in Costner’s Robin Hood, and of course Galaxy Quest (under-used there).

Die Hard, Three Amigos, Ghost Busters, City Slickers, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Stripes…seems like these re-runs are on every week on cable. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Die Hard 3, but they keep showing 1 and 2.

The only problem is that they are showing it on TBS!

I can’t stand watching movies on that channel. They always end up getting butchered beyond recognition.

That is one thing I never understood about U.S. TV. Why do you edit movies that are being show at 1:00 AM? There are not going to be any young kids up at that hour!

Up here in the great white north, after 21:00 almost anything goes. And if you are watching Showcase, it seems that anytime of day is OK to be showing naked people walking around.

Oh, and I also think that DH3 is the best in the trilogy.

Scoobysnax

Save water drink beer!

I noticed something like that earlier this month. Turner Classic Movies showed “Day of the Jackal” uncut (except for some blurred naughty bits), no commericals and in letterbox. The following week, TNT showed DOTJ, only cut, shrunk, and with commercials. I realize they are subsidiaries of the same company, but come on!

What I can stand is Comedy Central’s insistance on showing the same movie for a month solid. How many times can you watch “Heaven Help Us”, or “Mannikin 2: On the Move”?

There are tons of reasons why I like Die Hard so much… Hans Gruber is just deliciously evil, and John/Bruce is SUCH a stud (that rotator cuff scar is particularly sexy…). I really like the “I can laugh at myself, AND you, and this whole stupid situation” aspect of it, too. I actually BOUGHT the video, that’s how cool the film is! (The building in question was about 5 blocks from my old job in Beverly Hills…)
