Diet and Weight loss question

Right, I need to lose a stone. I’m a 20 year old guy in good health with a small/medium build. If I do the following, how long do you reckon (roughly) it will take me to lose a stone.

Weight Training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Restrict my calories to 1500 per day.

The reason I’m not doing any cardio is because I fell off the treadmill at the gym last week and hurt my left leg pretty bad. My mum’s a physio and she reckons I should lay off the aerobic stuff for at least a month. I want to have lost that stone by then.

I assume by stone, you mean kidney stone. Right?

I always thought that by drinking a lot of fluids, you would eventually pee the stone out.

I’m not aware that exercise alone will result in the removal of the stone. It’d probably be indirectly related, since you’d most likely be drinking more fluids than if you didn’t exercise.

A Google search would clear things, but it’s late, and I’m tired.

In case you’re not joking, “stone” is a unit of weight. 1 stone = 14 lb = 6.35 kg.

Just to clarify, I did mean a ‘stone’ of weight. Thanks

with a diet and weight training, I’d bet you could lose that in about 2 months. Cardio would help it happen faster, but if your mom thinks you should lay off the cardio for a month, I’d listen to her. It is possible to lose a stone in a month, but not very healthy. 2 pounds a week weight loss is what the doctors recommend. Just remember- the faster you lose the weight, the more likely you are to put it back on again.

It’s also possible to get aerobic exercise without using your legs. Ask a physical trainer or fitness expert to recommend something that’s appropriate for your particular injury.

1500 calories a day is too low, unless you’re a petite woman. Without knowing your exact height and weight, I can’t give you a decent estimate, but I don’t think you’d want to go to far below 2000.
