In the constitutional amendment thread there’s a lengthy discussion about the recent failed attempt by the senate democrats to push forward a constitutional amendment re: giving Congress powers that are currently considered unconstitutional under the Citizens United case.
One question I have that I would like to see further discussion on is: Is there a difference between speech paid for by Fox News or MSNBC on their editorial opinion programs and commercials developed and paid for by Super-Pacs or other interested parties?
I personally do not see a difference. If one wants to curb or ban paid for political commentary in the form of advertisements paid by large Super-Pacs, then it would only be fair to curb or ban the political op ed programs that most of the news channels have gone to over the last decade(s).
