This could be a good show.

National Geographic Channel chose to go with “dumbing it down” to the point of stupidity.
Rather than having actual experts, we are given two idiots with metal detectors.
The show spends more time on the “idiots” than it does the actual finds.
Finally at the end of the show we get to hear what they found.
The show is more dedicated to watching morons jumping around screaming to each other about what they found and, the obligatory non-monetary ridiculous bet than what they found!
I want to see one of these fucking assholes jam a shovel into a live fucking power-line!
Why? For wider appeal and ratings, of course.
Nat Geo channel owners sell entertainment.
“Trapper horse ain’t supposed to be with no digger!”
I just learned about this show and I also see that they pulled a show called “Nazi War Diggers.”
Moved to Cafe Society.
Reminds me of watching “Ice Cold Gold”. It could be such a good show. A group of American prospectors looking for gold and rubies in Greenland.
Instead we get the constant repeat of “we’re gonna go over that hill and what we find will determine of this whole venture is a success or not”. Then endless repeats of “Here we go!” “Let’s go!” “We’re here!” “Let’s start digging!” “What we dig up here will determine whether this whole venture is a success or not!”.
Then “you go dig over there”. “Here we are, ready to dig over here”. “Let’s go!” “This whole dig over here may determine…”
Til your eyeballs are rolling and you realize that an entire hour has been wasted watching these men shouting out what they’re doing and what they plan to do, and what happens if they find something.
Like Yu-Gi-Oh with shovels? :smack:
Sounds like every episode of Mythbusters as well. Except there usually is a nugget of goodness buried in all the tailings.
:eek::eek::eek: You take that back! If anyone’s talking about what they’re “going to do” on Mythbusters it’s because they need to make a plan, and that’s how the scientific method works. This “Diggers” show sounds like it belongs in the gutter with fake “documentary” shows like Storage Wars and Dangerous Flights.
I WILL NOT! By the awesomness of St Kerri you know it to be true.
This is a typical episode structure:
Adam and Jaime introduce the show, and talk about the myths.
We cut to the build team, that repeat what A&J just said
Voice over narration again repeats what is going on
…stuff happens…
Build team describes what they have done
V/O says “when we come back” and repeats what the BT just said
…commercial…
V/O repeats what was said just before the break
BT describes what they are doing, which is what the V/O just said
repeat through episode…
Now I know it is structured that way for the casual viewer that came in late or missed part, but when you watch the episode all the way through it gets ridiculous.
I’m not picking on the methodology, just the presentation.
No argument there!
Mythbusters has to pad and vamp for everything but the eight seconds of hitting the button. I find it unwatchable no matter how intriguing the question.
Most “reality” shows don’t have even those eight seconds. but viewers just can’t resist tuning in (1) again to watch (2) yet another program that (3) yep, shows people can be stupid. What a waste, when they could just look in a mirror any time.
I’ve only seen *Diggers *because a friend of mine metal detects and therefore watches it all the time. I’ve never bothered to check the fine print in the end credits, but I think the show is mostly bullshit. IOW I think almost all of the so-called ‘finds’ are planted and staged.
