Pay an entry fee for a “quake type” game, winners get paid. Part of the entry fees also spills over to people who operate game servers.

This is legal according to the FAQ’s on their site due to the fact that it is a “skill game.” Looks pretty legit to me. Per PC game magazine they have gone to great lengths to balance play so that skill is the main factor.

The debate, good idea/bad idea? Are we hurting society by creating a potential “professional computer gamer” world?

What positive and or negative results of this world can we come up with.

We already have professional chess players, professional poker players, heck, there are probably even professional Scrabble players out there, so why not professional computer gamers? There are already professional Quake players, and the top few can make $100,000+ through tournament prizes and sponsorships.
