Digital Cable

ok, I’m getting fed up with this. I live in one of the richest counties in the United States, yet it is becoming more and more apparent that we are also the ONLY place who does not yet have digital cable. They have it where my school is, they have it in NYC, hell they even have it in Rhode Island (when I was growing up there 15 years ago RI didn’t even HAVE cable period!) … my question is, is there anyone reading this who’s area does NOT have digital cable available? I want to know that I’m not alone.

BTW - the cable company I do have is Cablevision. I’m pretty sure that every other home I’ve been to with digital was NOT Cablevision…is it company specific? Does anybody have CABLEVISION digital?

I’m with Cablevision on Long Island. They’ve been trying to sell me that digital stuff for a year now. ‘Only’ $10 more a month - but there’s a charge for cable boxes for each TV.

I like their Optimum Online service.

They don’t even offer REGULAR cable where I live. Until recently, satellite was right out too (trees). I live in Washington state, not even in some bizarrely rural area.

My friends in the Land of Entrapment tell me that digital cable and cable-based broadband is still not available in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

…pffffftttt My country only got Cable 4 years ago …

Yeah America’s technology availablity to the general public is terrible… back to india with you !

Internet Service here costs $5.00!!! OH YEAH!!!

      • The company I work for just looked at moving from their ISDN line to, -anything else, basically. It is a 128K connection that runs a bit too slow for net conferencing. I was in charge of shopping around: no companies offered digital cable in the area, and only one company could offer DSL with the phone service we were using. The place where I work is located in the middle of St Louis, MO.
  • Meanwhile where I live, 35 miles to the east in IL, we have had digital cable service available for a couple years now, as well as several choices for DSL that could use any phone service we had, if we had wanted DSL instead. -And no, I don’t understand it either.
