Kodak. Kodak. Kodak.

Particularly the new DC-290 which is coming out sometime this month in the $1000 price range. There are cheaper point&shoot Kodaks if that’s your thing.

I have a DC-260 and have been thrilled with it since the day I got it. I can make 8x10 printouts from an inkjet printer that friends and family do not believe are digital. And the DC-290 has approx twice the resolution of my current DC-260.

The Kodaks and the Olympuses have the Digita OS which is the camera’s operating system. It allows a lot of flexibility and the use of scripts which can be d/l’ed into the camera for various new functions and features. For instance, someone programmed a script that takes pictures periodically and detects if anything in the picture moved since the last one. If there was movement, the camera saves the picture. This gives you a motion-activated camera for all kinds of cool uses. That’s just one example of a cool script. Others can be found at http://www.flashpoint.com and http://www.digitacamera.com

Ooops the other line of cameras that use the Digita OS is Minolta and not Olympus…Sorry
