Digital photos to 35mm slides?

I’m looking to convert some digital photos into 35mm slides that can be used with a slide projector. Through Google, I managed to find some websites that do this at a cost of about $2.50 each plus about $5-$7 for shipping.

The price is okay, but there are a lot of these services out there and I’m not sure which one to go with. Has anyone had experiences (either good or bad) with any of these stores?

If it matters, I’m looking for a site that can have the slides at my doorstep no later than one week after I submit them, and preferably using something cheap like USPS Priority Mail instead of FedEx.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I like the web as much as the next guy, but you might be better off going to a local place. Any town of 50,000 or more (that’s a rough guess) will have a printing company that can do this, and you’ll be able to discuss quality, which I assume is an issue.

Though, maybe it’s not, if you’re not a pro photographer, and this is for informal use? Hm.

Might be best to try some of the digital photography sites. www.dpreview.com has extremely high number of active users, but most of them are not much use IMO. It’s a good place for newbies. www.robgalbraith.com is aimed at pros and serious discussion, but amateurs are welcome if the are serious about the craft. There may well be existing threads discussing this issue already.

May I suggest reconsidering a digital projector?

I’m sure you can rent one somewhere for a similar price if you are doing enough slides, or even borrow one for free if you can find a friend that is so blessed.

I’m no pro photographer; I’m not even an amateur  This is just for a photography class at school. The teacher wants us to turn in our assignments as slides. The quality doesn’t have to be super-high, but I’d prefer not to get, say, blue trees or people that look like blobs.

We tried to convince her to let those of us with digital cameras use the digital projector in the classroom, but she didn’t want us to for some reason. I may try talking to her about that again, but if that doesn’t work, I just needed the slides as a backup plan.

I looked in some other forums and found links to different sites but I was just hoping somebody here could review them or share some experiences  Thank you both for the comments so far, though.

I think there was another thread about this not too long ago.

At work we’ve used this company. You can have your slides back next-day if you want, and the images have always come out nicely.

And indeed there was.

I searched for the wrong keywords the first time around.

Looks like I’ll be going with Gammatech, then.

Thanks
