Are we heading towards dimly remembered shows, but not ones on network launches?
Very well. It flopped not because of its quality, but because some of the characters were prostitutes and, more scandalously
, they showed a gay couple who were happy about it. Affiliates dropped it, so the ratings tanked.
I saw the play at a local theater. Quite good, and I give one of the actors a lot of credit since the script called for her to parade around nude on stage.
Sorry for the hijack.
That was a truly awful series. Simply wretched. I switched it off after one of the GIs told his buddy “Man, you were awesome up there on that horse!” (They had just fought a skirmish with a band of mounted Balkan Nazis. Ouch!
)
i remeber fox had a show where a white woman with a daughter married her black dentist and he had maybe one or two kids it lasted a short while because the actress who was the daughter said or did something that pissed of a lot of people nd the black actors . … i remeber the white grandma was a well known tv actress
That was True Colors and the only reason I could remember the title was because I remembered Nancy Walker from those Bounty paper towel ads. You would have thought I’d have remembered her from Rhoda.
Welp, dementia is creeping up on me, I had already commented on ‘Dream On’ and forgot I did so…Yes, it was an HBO show, now that I recall…but still, people I talk to IRL just don’t remember it.
Well, since I’m in here. . . Does anyone remember The Kenny Everette Show? Australian, I think. I used to watch it really late summer nights along with a New Jersey guy’s “children’s” show Uncle Somebody. These were really late night, which is why I only watched during the summer because of school. They were so late night they came on AFTER Linda Ellerbee’s news which was AFTER Nightline so you know it was really late.

Kenny Everett was British. He was a popular wacky radio host (and friend of The Beatles) who got his own TV shows full of oddball nonsense, top drawer music talent, and sexy music videos (Arlene Phillips’s Hot Gossip dancers). He sadly died of AIDS in the early 90s.
