Jesus, can you just fucking record the shows I tell you to record. Is it that fucking hard?
Apparently so
We’ve had DirecTV for 3 or 4 years now, almost everything records excepts during major storms. We even get some of those via the internet instead.
What is the recording issue you’re experiencing?
Is it associated with signal lost or something else?
Maybe you need to contact DirecTV to exchange the main unit?
How old is your box? Ours started to record wonky after we’d had it for five years. You might want to get them in to get you an upgraded one.
The DVR is new, I have had it for about six months. And nothing out of the ordinary seemed to cause the problem, I set the unit to record like I usually do.
Maybe I am projecting my extreme dislike of AT&T, but the service has gone to hell one they bought DirecTV.
How full is your DVR? We had problems with our U-verse DVR a few years ago, and the guy who came out to look at it said the problem was at least in part because the drive was too full. He said for best results there should be at least a quarter of the drive space available, and that we should manage it ourselves and not depend on the DVR setting where it decides when it needs to delete stuff.
The other part of the problem was that our equipment was old, so he said he was going to replace all of our equipment. This was about the time that AT&T was pushing their wireless TV boxes, and I was worried that the new equipment was going to jack up our rates. The guy said “If we upgrade your equipment as part of a service call, there’s no charge. We only charge you if you call to request it.”
I have had AT&T wireless since it was Cingular and I’ve always had good experiences with them. I also remember having AT&T broadband back when broadband internet was still new and they were good. As a customer I appreciate them.
But since they bought DirecTV it is annoying that it seems like they’re desperately trying to push it on me any time I communicate with them. I don’t want your crappy TV service.
I’ve never had AT&T broadband, but otherwise I could have written this. I especially appreciate the times when a customer service rep would call to let me know that I could save money by changing an option on my cell plan.
But as for [DEL]DirecTV[/DEL] AT&T TV, I only had it because it was a convenient way to get HBO and it was something like $15 a month with my cell discount. The latest price hike put it close to $40, which is 'way too much just to stream a single channel.
I’ve had problems with DirecTV too, not recording all the shows.
And it has the Worst. Remote. Ever.
I really miss Tivo.
You could cancel the service and report back on whether AT&T is still lying and playing games in order to screw another month’s payment out of its customers.
We cut the cable cord years ago, and years before that we had DirecTV.
I’m curious about whether DirecTV’s website still forces you to use the mouse/touchpad to pan and scroll the online schedule. God that was so aggravating!

We’ve been planning on cutting the cable cord for some time now. I think if we could get the sports coverage to where we want it, we’d cancel U-verse immediately.
At any rate, we had an antenna installed on our roof for over-the-air stations. We’d had mixed luck with the other types of antennae. We get great reception now on a slew of stations, with a picture superior to the U-verse one.
AND we bought a Tivo unit for the antenna stations. Works great.
Ok, I have a DirecTV question: You’ve recorded a movie and you start to watch it. Before long, you realize it sucks. Or maybe you don’t even start to watch it. Is there any way to simply delete the movie, rather than having to fast-forward all the way to the end? The “delete” button doesn’t work in that context.
You go back into the LIST of recordings and then the delete button does work.
My Dish Network box likes to fuck with me recording Formula One. I got it set up to record the Pre-race bullshit and that will record fine. But then it decides that I want to watch the later, re-run of the actual race, sometime later that day (when the results will undoubtably spoiled somehow during the day).
I have to really pay attention and edit the timer all season. Can’t seem to make it record the Live broadcast. Tried all kinds of shenanigans.
You’ll be pleased to know that DirecTV fucks it up too, though not very often. Sometimes I think the program guide lists it as F1 and other times as Formula 1, which can make the DVR that they are not the same events. But let me just say fuck ESPN for not helping when they decide to put the practice and qualifying on ESPN 2 and the main race on ABC, and sometimes include the pre-race show as part of the main race and other times as a separate show. And since this is the pit, fuck ESPN for cutting off the post race coverage whenever they feel like it, and fuck ESPN for not including the post race coverage online.
On the other hand, I will give props to ESPN for simply providing the SKY feeds without even attempting to include any ESPN specific coverage, which they would likely fuck up anyway.
Dag, I endorse your thorough Fucking of ESPN’s handling of Formula One. And I’ll add, aimed at ‘Crofty’ and the lot, Shut the ever-loving fuck up once in a while!!!
I swear, they must get paid by the word.
No, that’s the problem. There’s no delete button for individual recordings, only for episodes in a series.
OK, that’s weird. There is suppose to be.
When you are playing the movie and hit **info **then more, one of the menu items should be a **delete **option. Do you get that at least?
Yep, got that. But there really should be a simpler way of deleting something.
Thanks.
