Did you guys like this season as much as season 1? I did not, though it had some great episodes that lived up to my expectations. I actually found the early-middle better, before Todd and Dirk went to Wendimore.
Sherlock cracked me up and I missed him in the late part of the season.
I think this season did a good job, but it did not reach the heights of last year. The absolute confusion of the characters last year was hilarious. Time travel was a lot of fun.
When watching the scene of Bart at the table in Blackwing, I thought about Bart in the prison cell in Bergsberg. Locks don’t work on her. As soon as the universe needs her for something, she’ll be a part of it. The only reasonable scenario is that the universe needs Bart to be in Blackwing for a little while. They didn’t allow her to keep the chainsaw, which was probably a good start. In the end, though, it won’t matter at all.
It’s a shame the mage’s end wasn’t on the train as well. It would’ve been nice for each of them to have some company for all eternity.
I enjoyed the first season much more than the second. A lot has to do with discovering their quirky world for the first time but also the story was much, much better. And by “story” I mean “case”. The bodysnatchers were a much better villain than Suzie and The Boy’s ultimate explanation was, well, trite.
That’s not to say I didn’t like the second season. Getting to the trite ending was loads of fun.
I was thinking about Freidkin. He very stupid but really does not want to be stupid. Or a bad guy. Now, however, he has seen the answer (“Now I get it!”). Will this make him smart(er) or someone who knows everything but understands nothing?
I might be reading too much into it, but it occurs to me the show has been very careful to develop him as someone who is not at all cerebral, but is very competent in a combat environment. Did you catch the 3 second scene of him gunning down the castle heads? It was the only scene (not counting the one where Bart had killed several hundred) in which Blackwing got the best of them. Makes me wonder, when he says, “Now I get it” what exactly he is understanding. How everything is connected? I think not. How everything could be taken apart/weak points? Maybe.
I think they included the scene of Friedkin in back stage of the universe because the writers didn’t want him to just die & be done. They wanted to end his torment. He dies, but in so doing, reunites with the universe, puts the pieces together, and achieves closure.
I half expected Slartibartfast to wander over and say something witty about fjords.
The Boy asked her where she wanted to go, apparently she said Blackwing.
How was Freidkin able to blow away all the nights when he decided to join the good guys when no one in Blackwing was having success earlier? I guess he just had better writers. Sadly, I think his character is really dead and gone.
Honestly, I could be done with Blackwing after this season but that isn’t the way things are going. The woman who was talking to Ken at the end, she’s the same woman who put Freidkin in charge, right?
Freidkin was a great shot to start with, that was his one redeeming feature in the first season. I think he may play a part in future seasons, though I can’t guess how.
I thought it was the same Government official that put Ken in charge this year as Freidkin last year.
It looks like Mona will indeed be a recurring character. I hope she is, but a small one. She’s great in small doses.
Same here. I’m upset by all the great performances we’re never going to see again. Fiona Dourif was amazing as Bart and Samuel Barnett did a great job as Dirk. Will they ever get roles like that again?
Apparently, BBC America is out, but AMC is still all in. The show is coming to Netflix in January, and if the numbers are strong, there is a small chance a season 3 could still be produced.
