Is it illegal to hang your laundry out to dry anywhere in Paris?
I lived in Paris for several years and while I don’t know if was illegal, it was definitely frowned upon. The Syndicat rules for both apartments I lived in mentioned that it was forbidden.
I love the Internet.
Found this.
Cover the classics — the Mona Lisa, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe — or grab a baguette, camembert cheese, and champagne for a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower. There are no mistakes here.
To save money, you can take clothes back to your hotel room and hang them in the bathroom. Be careful about putting things out on the balcony, some places forbid it, and the wind can make off with your clothing.

Many Parisians have small washers in their apartments, usually in the kitchen or bathroom, because no space for bulky utilities had been anticipated in the master scheme of things Parisian. Dryers are rarer, and masses of Parisians are used to draping wet clothes over chairs, on clothes lines over the tub, and across radiators.
…but evidently not outside on a laundry line.
Why do you ask?
