Disableing or blocking AI

  1. Is it true that Meta is going to use our input to train their AI as of tomorrow, Dec. 16, 2025?
  2. Is it true that there is a way to prevent this? And
  3. If there is a way to prevent Meta using your content to train its AI, what is that way?

Thanking you in advance.

Don’t know about 1 and 2, but as far as #3 goes, remember that when you first signed up for Facebook or Instagram you agreed to a Term of service that allowed Meta access to and use of anything you did on their sites. And if you read the Terms you’ll see that the only way you can change that is either by getting written permission from Meta for the change (HA!) and if you don’t like it, close your account.

BTW, they have been using public content for AI training for years.

You can rest assured that just about every word of publicly posted text on the internet is being used by somebody on some model somewhere. Including these posts.

Yes. Live in Europe or another jurisdiction where there is a proper personal data protection law with real teeth.

Outside of that, I’m sorry, all o’ y’all are at the mercy of the tech bros.

… also time to reckon that this is partially due to some committed and law fearing citizens:

(reuters report on an austrian law student who took on facebook and landed an earth-shaking win in terms of data privacy in europe)

(and IIRC a couple of others after this 2015 articel)
