About a year ago, my Hyundai Elantra was hit from behind by a heavy-duty Chevy pickup truck. I opened a thread about it but can’t find it to link to; probably irrelevant anyway. I’ve had trouble with my lower back ever since; the pain hasn’t responded to therapy nor to steroid injections. I have to go next week for a discogram on the L-5 and L-6 vertebrae (I think.), followed immediately by a scan of some sort; I’m a little bit sketchy on all the details. I think I am probably going to have to accept surgery; per my Doctor, the surgery will be a fusion process involving stainless steel rods and screws. He told me about the surgery before telling me about the discogram and I sort of went into denial when I heard about the rods and screws.
To me, discogram sounds like a telegram delivered by John Travolta and whats-her-name. I don’t know what to expect or how painful it will be. If anyone can shed light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for any and all input.
