There’s a story on CBS news tonight about micro-targeting by political campaigns. One finding: Target shoppers tend to be Democrats, Wal-Mart shoppers tend to be Republican.
I can’t disagree – can you?

I shop Target and until the latest repudiation of all I find holy by the Right, voted Republican.
I shop at bothTarget AND WalMart.
Kittenblue, a small-i independent.
Wal-Mart is closer. I prefer Target, but I really can’t stand either one of them.
koeeoaddi, Libertarian
Target, even though it’s not yet in Hawaii (and its useless to ask you guys for sympathy)
Republican (except on presidential, Iraq, and religious-based issues… yet I agree with more conservative agenda issues)
{{{{{{Hub}}}}}} I hope you get a Target soon!
I detest Walmart and categorically refuse to patronize them, registered independant but generally democratish.
I’m a Target shopper and a registered Republican who usually votes for Democratic or independent candidates. I visit a Wal-Mart maybe once or twice a year, when I can’t find something I need at one of the 3 Targets nearby and don’t have time to go searching elsewhere. (I used to work at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is eeeeeeeeeeevil. Target may be evil as well, but I don’t have the inside info to confirm it.)
How does they survey account for access to stores? Sounds like a meaningless statistic to me.
In South Philly, folks are mostly democrats, but do an awful lot of shopping at the Wal Mart. In Plymouth Meeting, you are talking generally about Republicans, but I have a feeling they are going to the Target rather than trucking down to the WalMart in Norristown
I am Republican and shop at the WalMart because Target is a pain in the ass to get to at rush hour. A very high percentage of the shoppers in my WalMart are black and latino, but I have a feeling they aren’t Republicans. I think its probably because they live close by.
When I visited my folks on the mainland, we must’ve spent over $200 at Target. The baby stuff, the home decor… Hawaii needs you!

Very interesting!
In my case, it’s not true. I vastly prefer Target over Wal-Mart and I tend to be more Republican than Democrat. However, I’m often the sort who doesn’t follow trends.
Democrat. If I have to go to a big box discounter, I’ll go to Target.
I’ll never set foot inside a Wal Mart unless I absolutely needed to.
Thanks, lv! :smack:
I shop at Costco and Carrefour and vote libertarian.
