How foolish is it to reject the pleasures of this world and suffer willful privation in the vain belief that this will bring us pleasures after death?
Well, besides the fact that this is very specifically NOT how that works according to most religions? It is not our rejection of the world, our refusal to engage in worldly pleasures, or our voluntary suffering that brings us salvation.

This is one of those extremely rare occasions where I agree with YogSothoth. One could hardly blame blacks growing up in the south in the 40s and 50s for harboring racial resentment toward whites. In fact I’d think it damn near impossible for them not to.
