I see this sentiment a lot. Is it that Democrats are not allowed to talk to Republicans, and cannot attempt to persuade them?
Is that that Democrats are not allowed to run advertisements in Republican districts, shaming the Republicans by reporting accurately on what is going on?
Is it that Democrats lack the ability to come up with a better plan, promote the hell out of it, and assure voters that they will enact it as soon as they come into power?
Because I’m really disinclined to pay my elected representatives to sit around and wait on being in the majority.
Note that that is the perspective pushed by the majority party. “Sure, we may not be great, but the minority is useless, so you’re wasting your vote for them.”
They do, but it doesnt play much on the news. You will see this more come election season. Here in CA, we are getting a lot og ad for Governor, and several absolutely castigate trump, etc.
I do not. In general, I’m just bitter at how badly the US system has failed me and my fellow Americans after what seemed like a promising start, especially once we began to address the systemic sexism and racism.
What communications I see seem largely geared towards campaigning (which includes crowing about legislative victories) and fundraising (same). The message I get is that everything is normal, and if I just elect Democrats, all will be well once again. There’s never any reference to the depth of the shit we are in.
Few do, and i no longer do. But that is how you would get speeches on both sides, and find out what your representative is saying in Congress. Ask them to mail you some of their speeches in the Record.
You get what the Candidates pay for and what the Media choose to show you. Neither is very accurate of what Congress does and says.
