Discussion thread for the Hamas Attacks Israel thread, October 2023

To the extent that the Alabama racoon simile still applies:

“Thet coon could have clumb down outa thet tree and whupped up on them twelve hounds and walked away a free animal”

Only the hounds are at war.

Either it happens or the war continues.

That’s been said in this thread since it started yet food is still being delivered. Suffering would seem a good motive to turn on Hamas.

I don’t believe you. I don’t believe Netanyahu. You’re repeating lies.

I’m repeating the history of the world and every war fought.

Hamas has to go. Otherwise it’s a temporary lull.

I don’t believe you. You’re wrong about history.

Meanwhile, thousands upon thousands of Gazan children are starving to death.

Meanwhile the ruling government refuses to surrender.

Then should we bomb Qatar?

Hamas can’t feed Gazan civilians. Only Israel can. And only Israel can stop the starvation. Right now, Israel is choosing mass starvation. Why would they think that mass starvation would motivate a murderous death cult like Hamas to do anything good?

That’s the basic concept of strategic bombing.

If those Gazan children don’t want to starve to death due to Israel’s failure to distribute enough food, they should round up all of Hamas, deliver them to Israel, and create a new government! Easy as pie. Why didn’t I think of that?

I have a couple of conspiracy theories, i.e. they are only founded by my cynicism and I don’t have anything to back them up:

• If Hamas didn’t have however any remaining live hostages, would civilians in Israel really care about what happens in Gaza. I mean, I know that Daniella Weiss is giddy and doing bus tours with potential settlers who for some unfathomable reason believe that Gaza is a part of Eretz Yisrael. But we hear about protests in Israel and people who want the war to end - and bring back the hostages. What will happen when the last hostage is released or found dead?

• Whereas Netanyahu and the Israeli military want to occupy Gaza in order to vanish all evidence of war crimes. As long as it’s under military occupation, they can keep out NGOs, journos ASF.

BTW, if things are being done, justified with iron age writing, a little more than 2000 years old, may I suggest that all Jews get exclusive right to Judea, Samaritans get Samaria and the rest can be under UN protection, since, AFAIK, Dan, Asher, Naphthali and the rest haven't been around for some time.

Eighty-six percent of those who voted among the 500-member International Association of Genocide Scholars backed the resolution declaring Israel’s “policies and actions in Gaza” had met the legal definition set out in Article II of the 1948 UN convention on genocide.

Jerry Nadler (who is retiring), of all people, now opposes Israel’s actions in Gaza, and will be voting against further offensive arms.

Sorry this is so late, but

This is obviously not what he said. Don’t misquote other posters.

If they only had voted out/started an upraising against Hamas. /s

A country is known by the strength of it’s enemies. Israel has not lost an aircraft in the Gaza conflict. The ‘enemy’ is essentially powerless. But, Israel is unable to defeat it.

What an unusual sentiment.

“It is not that you are strong, it is your neighbors that are weak!” Said the dissolute king’s mom in Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love.

That’s why North Korea is the greatest country in world.

So if Country A is thriving and prosperous, with universities turning out students set to keep up the good work, and so on, and has no enemies — and Country B is much the same, but has an enemy that it’s easily kicking the shit out of — and Country C isn’t thriving or prosperous or anything, but is the country getting the shit kicked out of it with ease by Country B — then, what?
