Discussion thread for the Hamas Attacks Israel thread, October 2023

Does it look like this?

…they aren’t really. Hamas lost the “war” on October the 7th, 2023.

I’ve provided evidence that shows Israel have committed atrocities on a massive scale in defiance of international humanitarian law. They don’t get to commit atrocities and use “it’s a gorilla war” as an excuse. This isn’t World War Two. But if it were, then Israel would be Germany and Gaza would be an extermination camp. Your analogy is all wrong. And we are letting them get away with it. Because that is what gen____ looks like.

“Guerilla”, not “gorilla”, for fuck’s sake!

Hamas is double monkey punching Israel. :gorilla:

What if the gorillas are hiding amongst the general population?

Then everything has gone bananas.

“The conventional army loses if it does not win. The guerrilla wins if he does not lose”

  • Henry Kissinger (1969)

Trump to Netanyahu:

“I don’t know why you’re always so fucking negative. This is a win. Take it.”

(Sounding just like South Park’s Trump: “Relax!”)

If that were true, Hamas wouldn’t be in control of Gaza, would they?

It’s interesting how when the topic of Palestinians resisting against Hamas comes up, that’s obviously ridiculous to you because Hamas is an all powerful organization that can enforce compliance from a population that (according to you) hates and opposes Hamas; and yet, when the topic of Israel fighting Hamas comes up, you portray them as pathetically weak and incapable of threatening anyone.

Which is it, BanquetBear? Is Hamas so powerful and rules with such an iron fist that it’s totally understandable why there is so little opposition from Palestinians to Hamas control of Gaza? Or is Hamas so pathetically weak that they lost the war on Oct 7? You can’t have it both ways.

…Hamas has repeatedly offered to give up power, hand over to a provisional Palestinian authority and return all of the hostages in exchange for ending the war.

And if Israel would simply negotiate in good faith: Hamas wouldn’t have been in control of Gaza any more.

They lost the war because they were never going to win it. The IDF failed miserably on October the 7th. They got caught with their pants down. It should never have happened. But it did. And once it did there was no way Hamas were ever going to win. It was over already.

I can’t even recall ever commenting on this. I may have, I just don’t remember.

But surely you can see the difference between an organisation like Hamas and a military armed, funded and supported by the US and much of the rest of the world like the IDF. It should be fairly obvious. You don’t have to be an “all powerful organisation” to be able to enforce compliance, especially when if you keep your head down you can keep yourself out of trouble.

But compared to the firepower of the IDF? That have been dropping bombs around the region, attacking multiple countries at once, that uses drones to fly around and snipe little kids, that can sabotage entire supply chains in a terrorist attack using cellphones, that murders scientists in their sleep, Hamas were never going to be able to compete with that.

Of course you can.

You’ve provided evidence there is a war going on.

The Nazis exterminated Jews in gas chambers and firing squads with the intent to kill them all. The unlucky ones were worked to death. Your comparison is willfully wrong.

And yet they haven’t done it. There’s nothing complex about unconditional surrender.

Do you believe deliberate mass starvation of civilians, and deliberate mass murder of unarmed civilians (as reported by IDF members themselves), is just part of “a war going on”, or do you believe it constitutes atrocities?

If that were a true statement they would all have died a long time ago.

If what were a true statement? It’s a fact that multiple IDF members have reported witnessing or receiving orders to shoot groups of unarmed civilians who pose no threat. It’s a fact that many Gazans have starved to death, and many more are at high risk of starvation.

nm, thought this was the pit

Please note that it’s guerilla. A gorilla is a large ape.

Deliberate mass starvation.

Israel have deliberately put inexperienced and incompetent people in charge of feeding Gaza, with the expected results of failure and mass starvation. That’s deliberate starvation.

As opposed to the experienced yet incompetent terrorist collaborators they had before?

If the UNRWA wanted Israel to cooperate with it, it shouldn’t have allowed Hamas to use UNRWA HQ as a military base, it shouldn’t have allowed Hamas to fill the UNRWA school curriculum with revanchist Hamas propaganda, and they shouldn’t have smuggled in arms for Hamas. They should have (and undoubtedly they did) understood that getting caught doing the sort of shit they were up to would jeopardize their ability to undertake the humanitarian mission that was supposedly their goal.

It’s such a terrible shame that there’s no one on Earth experienced in feeding starving people in a war zone and Israel was forced, with no other choice, to put the job in the hands of totally incompetent people.

The key word is WAR ZONE.
