Nothing to say except … that’s different.
That’s a lovely Marzipan modeling of the Great-Turtle and Discworld. I doubt if it’d be very tasty, though.
It was a WEDDING CAKE??
Cool.
Well, Susan Sto Helit just got married. But I doubt it was her cake.
That’s pretty freakin’ impressive. I’m not sure I could bring myself to eat it- it’s too pretty.
Extremely impressive.
It should have been Susan Sto Helit’s wedding cake.
Too cool. I want to steal it!
I dibs a piece from Tubal or Jerakeen.
Anybody know the name of the fifth elephant?
Extra Crispy.
Well, there’s always Angua.
Too pretty to eat.
Very pretty. Immensely pretty.
sigh
I call the bit with Fourecks on it!
Looks cool, but it said the base was a fruit cake, so it’s probably inedible.
A’Tuin Cake? Very cool! And pretty.
Wooooowwwwww …
If she isn’t married, she should be planning one of these cakes now. If she is married, she should get married all over again so she can have one of these cakes.
It’s incredibly lame that someone wanted to feature a science fiction series at their wedding (even one that’s as good as Discworld is reported to be), but I have to give them credit - they did a great job rendering it in confection form.
My wife is a pastry chef and does wedding cakes on the side. I’ve been subjected to years of the Food Network and stacks and stacks (and stacks) of books - both bought and checked out from the library - about cakes and food as art, so I think I’m well qualified to say that this cake is extremely impressive.
I wish she was familiar with Discworld so she could appreciate the pictures when I show her, rather than what I expect, which is: Why are there elephants, standing on a giant turtle’s back, supporting a . . . flat . . . world . . . ?
Fantasy, not Science Fiction.
Amazing! But as others have pointed out, with it being fruitcake with marzipan, no worries about anyone actually wanting to eat it.
I wonder if they served sausages inna bun at the wedding?
