Discworld Miniatures!

Surfing through a Polish miniatures website, I saw that they are licensed to design and sell official miniatures for Terry Pratchets Discworld! Here it is.

Not only are the paint jobs on the display models great, but the sculpts themselves are awesome. Little details like Otto Van Chrieks little bottle of blood hanging around his neck and they painted Cheery Littlebottoms fingernails with red nail polish. And the Death of Rats makes an appearance. Some of the minis are general character poses but a few are from specific points in books. Esme II is hilarious.

Thank you for the head’s up! My daughter and I both love Discworld, and she collects miniatures.

I wish they had made another one for Angua, or at least made her collar a bit more visible.

I like the dual Greebo figures. He also gets an appearance around Nanny’s neck, so he’s more represented than most.

A little uncertain about ordering from the site. Please let me know if it all works out for you, because I’d like to order a few of them.

I like that the human version is holding a cat-faced mardi gras mask.

Those are awesome! I love those books far more than is reasonable. I hope they make Vetinari soon . . .

Keep in mind, if you’re ordering from them, that the miniatures are unpainted. They’re not going to show up looking like they do on the website.

Where’s the fun in getting minis that are already painted?

And where are Tiffany, or Agnes/Perdita? Ponder Stibbons, maybe? You’d think they’d be more important characters than assorted Ankh-Morpork nobles.

I’m also puzzled by the order they’re listed on the site. Some of the thematically-related characters are together, but Detritus (for instance) isn’t with the rest of the Watch, and the Witches are split up, and the DEATHs are all separate.

Is this 8.61 E?

Yeah, they use commas for decimal points over in Poland, evidently.

I, too am puzzled by the order of the minis. I guess the line is recent and they haven’t gotten to the rest of the characters yet. But it’s good that they’re saving some of the big ones for later. Otherwise, people lose interest after the first release.

30 mm. Bah!

Are those photos of the actual miniatures? Because they look like CGI renderings.

Yup, real minis.

They seem to be mostly based on Paul Kidby’s drawings.

Particularly Cohen the Barbarian and Captain Carrot.

Yeah, Cohen looks much too tall to me, for some reason.

Hmmm. I have no model paints anymore. But I’d probably still love to have them, even without. ESPECIALLY the Luggage.

The Twoflower one is on the wrong side of the racist caricature line for me.

I bet they don’t make one of Igor’s dog, Thcrapth. I loved the “scene” where DEATH met Thcrapth. I rarely laugh aloud when I read, but I did when I read that.

Come to think of it, it’d be challenging to figure out how to paint Thcrapth, wouldn’t it?
