OMFG, what you said there totally resonates with me. I was recently promoted to the head of my department at work, and now I’m the manager of a bunch of fucking teenaged girls who don’t understand what “having a job” means. Here I am, killing myself, trying to make sure my customers are happy, because I wouldn’t still be doing what I do after 32 years if I didn’t care. And I have to deal with these teenaged twits who are just working for pocket money, and trying to make them understand that serving the customer is the most important fucking thing.

I read Mort a half year ago. It was ok. I’m not hooked yet. Not sure what the next book should be.

I had heard about Discworld and on another message board I asked for recommendations to start. With those recommendations in mind, I headed for the local book store. They didn’t have Mort, which was recommended, but they had Reaper Man. At that time, I was on the road for 3 weeks at a time, so I was stocking up on paperbacks, so I probably got Color of Magic, Light Fantastic, and another, not a Witch one, at the same time. I think of CoM and LF as 2 parts of the same novel. I probably got hooked on them, because I really liked Rincewind. I didn’t like Death very much in those two books, but in Reaper Man, I came to like him.
