How absurd!
Hopefully these kids do not get a slapped on the wrist.

Why in the hell would the news station repost the video?
The mom asked them to run the video (with the face blurred) to try to prevent future bullying of others. I didn’t quite follow the reasoning, but that’s what they said. This is the high school yours attended, and my niece teaches there.
I am not sure who you’re directing ‘the high school yours attended’ was directed towards. Although I am a native Clevelander, I have no affiliation with Bay Village High School. Hopefully soon enough these students won’t either.
She’s saying she went to that high school.
I assume she dropped a word from “yours truly”.
Disgusting, & once the PD finish their investigation, I hope the offending kids do spend some time in juvey, but I’m sorry, this is way overreach:

The Bay Village school district also is prepared to discipline any student who was part of the incident, which took place off-campus and outside the school day. Superintendent Clint Keener said in a statement that school officials will take appropriate disciplinary action once police complete their investigation.

Why should a school discipline students for things that are not school related?
Personally I think all the kids involved should be punished but there will be at least 1 ringleader who deserves some special treatment.
This is from the school’s Code of Conduct policy book:
Preface and Philosophy
The code of regulations applies while a student is in the custody or control of the school, on school grounds or closely proximate thereto, while at a school sponsored function or activity or on school-owned or provided transportation vehicles. In addition, the Student Code of Conduct governs a student’s conduct at all times, on or off school property, when such student conduct is reasonably related to the health and safety of other students and/or school employees, or such conduct would unreasonably interrupt the educational processes of the Bay Village City Schools.
Sorry. Typing on phone in a hurry. That’s the school my kids went to. I also was a substitute teacher there.
I think the kids should have the book thrown at 'em & I’m not sure what I’d do if one of them were my kid, but I think he might prefer juvey to whatever discipline/punishment I decide on. But outside of school they’re not students, they’re private citizens.
On a lighter note, this does give me an idea for a Colon Cancer Challenge…
Minor update: I’ve learned this happened over summer break so the school is reviewing whether this falls under their guidelines or disciplinary reach. The main group of boys suspected are boys who sit and eat lunch with this boy everyday…they are considered his buddies. As you can imagine, the school was pretty horrified today to learn what had happened, and to become the source of national vilification. Add to that the death of another student, apparently drug-related, today or yesterday, and it’s no wonder many of the kids don’t want to tell anyone where they go to school…used to be point of envy and pride.
