dishwasher safe scrubsponge?

I’m lazy. I use my dishwasher. But as people who use dish washers know you need to get rid of any stuff thats stuck hard on the dishes. So I use one of those scrubber sponges. Now, I know these things are bastions of bacteria. I know dishwashers use pretty hot water to wash dishes. In a whim I just threw my scrubber into the dish washer with my dishes. I figure the hot water and the soap’ll kill/clean the scrubber a bit. I by no means wish to make this scrubber an immortal, but I’d like to avoid that somewhat nasty feel the scrubber can get at times. Anything wrong with putting a scrubber in the machnine?

i’ll write back on the condition of the scrubber when the dishwasher finishes its cycle.

I’ve put my scrubber in the dishwasher before. The dishwasher soap seems to be harsh enough to decrease the life of the scrubber. OTOH, I don’t worry about swarms of germs occupying the thing.
