It’s more like vertical pan-and-scan rather than horizontal. Or, it would be if they ever panned, which I doubt – you’re probably just always looking at the middle of the original. Pan-and-scan would actually try and pan to the important part of the original (which was also jarring). Anyway, pass.
I’m streaming Attack of the Clones(my kids wanted to see the prequels) and it looks fine. Movie is still a snooze, but it looks fine on TV.
Streaming is working for at least this movie at this point in time.
Well, we got it here. Tonight I finally get to see Avengers:Endgame.
According to this site it won’t be included.
The only thing I’ve watched so far was the very first episode of the Simpsons, and it was widescreen (16:9 I suppose?) not 4:3. It is like a vertical pan and scan, in that some scenes appeared to be showing the top of the original frame, with the bottom cut, and others seemed to be showing the middle or bottom. I’m basing that purely on what appears to be missing from the scenes, and not by comparing it to the original broadcasts, so I could be wrong. The credits were just stretched.
They also changed the Han and Greedo scene, again.
Yes, Greedo now has an additional shot before shooting.
To go further, Greedo now says, “MACLUNKEY” before he shoots.
Watched CA:First AVenger -
Sound seemed off - even tho I am direct HDMI and Internet - but otherwise - it worked as well as other streaming services.
Looks like Disney has had a change of heart and decided to reward your hope. You, your parents, your brother and your boyfriend can now safely enjoy Disney’s tacit approval to abuse your Disney+ account subscriber agreement. Just don’t go overboard.
I hate that the app isn’t available on older iOSes. I mostly use my iPad for ebooks and Netflix and the Comedy Central app, all of which work with legacy apps so I have no real need to upgrade. I can use my phone and Chromecast it to my tv, but it’s gonna be annoying for the kid using iPad. It also seems that it can’t be played on old iOSes’ browsers, but I could be wrong about that and it’s just a regular old connection problem due to high traffic. I’m more mad at apple for making things obsolete faster than they need to but I am a little miffed Disney didn’t do more to make it backwards compatible. But then again, maybe Apple doesn’t let new apps do that.
According to this article on CBR: https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-what-greedos-maclunkey-means-and-whos-responsible-for-it/
“maclunkey” is a Huttese term invented by George Lucas which means “This will be the end of you.” It was previously used by Podracer pilot Sebulba in The Phantom Menace.
It’s still lame.
Your iPad received about 5 years of support from Apple, depending on the specific model. I doubt you could have found a better supported tablet.
Your iPad is at least 7 years old; Disney+ supports iPads up to 6 years old.
I get that you’re mad, but I think it’s hard to fault Disney or Apple.
Can’t figure out how to get subtitles. At one point, Dutch subtitles came on spontaneously, then stopped when I paused and restarted.
I understand older OS’s not getting it.
Windows 10 has no app, which means no downloading a show to my laptop. Netflix has an app and I use it when I am going somewhere and don’t want to use wifi to stream a show/movies.
A terrible decision.
Well, looks like Disney and Samsung made it happen. I just checked on a whim last night and it was available. I got the whole bundle with Hulu and ESPN. My 15-year-old is freaking about all the anime available on Hulu.
We watched a lot of the Disney shorts last night. Some lag but not a lot.
I’ve been checking my Samsung TV, but Disney+ has not shown up so far. My TV may be too old.
Probably the easiest thing for me to do is just get a Roku box. They don’t seem to be that expensive.
My experience has been less than optimal. At work I managed to get logged in yesterday but browsing didn’t work. I found searching would work and watched a little of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Gummi Bears, and the old 1930s cartoon where Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are in the camper trailer driving down the road. Overall the UI was much like Netflix, but thankfully autoplay next episode and autoplay during browsing were both things you could turn off.
At home, different story. Roku 2, Roku Express, and Vizio Roku TV all give error code 31 and tell me to turn on Location Services. No such thing on a Roku. PC Firefox browser won’t log in. Clicking on Log In does nothing. Tried Chrome as well.
They will get it all working, I’m just surprised that 24+ hours later there are still so many problems.
Samsung & LG say TVs produced since 2016 should get the Disney+ app. I have 2 LG TVs, the one I bought in Nov 2015 doesn’t have it, the one I bought in 2017 does. Unfortunately the one that has it is the small one in the basement, so I’m looking at Roku or Firestick as well.
Things got better on the website, browsing and playing finally working smoothly as of an hour or so ago.
Oh, and Firestick vs. Roku, I would pick Roku. Amazon had a feud with Google before and YouTube wasn’t available on Firestick for a long time. Could happen again.
What originals are coming in the next few months? I know they have some long term shows like Obi-Wan and a bunch of Marvel shows, but other than the Mandalorian, what does Disney+ have coming soon?
Their original lineup is quite sparse right now and I’m wondering if there is a list of things coming in the next 6 months.
