Disney Trademarks "SEAL Team 6"

No seriously they did,

Gawker

I am anticipating a animated film of a elite team of Seals sent to infiltrate and kill an evil eco-terrorist.

Featuring a hit song from Jordin Sparks and R. Lee Ermey.

That would be like trademarking “Marines”. Good luck with that.

Time to send the Development Group to visit Robert Iger.

TSR, a gaming company, trademarked the term “Nazi”.

Maybe they do joint-ops with the Penguins of Madagascar?

To be fair, Disney does a lot more than just kids movies (they own a lot of other brands, such as Marvel), and it’s not like the actual organization in question is actually called SEAL Team 6 (at least not any more).

And since then, no one’s been able to use Nazi characters or the term “Nazi” in their books, shows, movies or games without TSR’s approval.

Correction: It’s not officially called that any more. But I’ll bet you I could find a few dozen reputable news articles referring to them that way, and that’s plenty enough to show that the term is in the public domain.

True. Would be interesting to see if this sticks once thrown against the wall.

I had no idea a mouse had balls that big.

Remember when Disney was a company that was respected?
Assholes.

Zip-a-dee-doo-da! Zip-a-dee-ay! Not if you were black, female or gay!

The Onion newspaper once revealed that Bill Gates had patented 1’s and 0’s.

I remember a few years back that some travel company (Priceline I think?) patented business. As in the process of offering services or goods for money. No idea if anybody got sued for violating their patent.

That was tried with T-shirts a couple of weeks after 9/11. US application number 76/316,683.

This is not an official statement from the USPTO.
