Disney's California Adventure - What should I definitely do?

I’m here in Anaheim for a tradeshow at the Hilton(two minute walk from Disney). Tonight, around 5pm, some cow orkers and I walked to the California Adventure, bought tickets(@ $45 a pop), and walked around the entry area for fifteen minutes(long enough to estimate that we would only get to do two rides before it closed.) So we walked to customer service and politely requested a refund for our tickets…AFTER we had walked through the turnstiles and recieved a stamp! I TOTALLY RIPPED OFF DISNEY!!!

I have no shame.

Fortunately I had already decided to return the next day and take my time there, so instead we went to Downtown Disney and ate tapas at a little outdoor barb.

Later on today, after I sleep, I’m going to A.D. I might not have all the time in the world so is there anything specific I should do? In other words; What rides are worth waiting in hour-long lines for? Gotta love visiting brand new amusement parks during the peak season!

Slightly off topic - Has anyone heard about the strawberry farmer who held out on selling his land to Disney until last year when he died. I guess he had issues with Disney. Turns out his son sold it for $147 million…what an ass. Way to carry on the wishes of your father.

Hmph.

I was just there. It was pretty cool.

I’ll pass on a tip that other Dopers turned me on to: use the FastPass system. Stop by the big, great rides (the coaster, the river raft ride), and pick up a FastPass for later that day. It will be four hours at least before you can use it, but during that four hours you can go do the little rides, or shows, or whatever, then come back during your time slot and get right on the big ride. You can only have one FastPass at a time, basically. Make sure to do this for the river raft; they haven’t worked the bugs out of the system yet, so the FastPass people get a serious advantage over the line-waiters.

Then, while you’re waiting, MuppetVision 3D! It takes place in a recreation of the theatre from the TV show. Great, cheesy, 3D overkill.

I don’t know if you’ve been to the parks in Florida, but if you have the Muppets show and the Bug’s Life show are exactly the same as the ones there.

Soarin’ over California and California Screamin’ are the unique rides that you’ll want to make sure you see.

Avoid Superstar Limo.

The Animation Building is a must see.

I agree with obusciatrist.

Soaring over California is a Must!

I kind of enjoyed the “Spirit of California” Movie with Whoopi Goldberg, but it is pretty glurgy.
