So, I’m on vacation in the US and will be returning to S. Korea tomorrow. While I’ve been here, I’ve been using a Tracphone since my Korean cell phone, obviously, doesn’t work here.
I’m planning on taking a short jaunt soon to Hong Kong and want to get a pre-paid cell phone to use there. What are my choices?
tracfone.com offers international service at no extra charge, call 1-800-706-3839 on your tracfone
mine is an old Nokia tracfone, made in Hong Kong.
I loaned mine to somebody to see if it worked overseas, it did. I have used it practically everywhere in North America. From Canada to Mexico and coast to coast.
I’ve been really impressed with my cheap ass cell phone and have had this one for about 3 years. It always works, even in bad weather when other more expensive phones fail.
Just call Nokia and have the number and service changed to your location.
I don’t know how this service applies to all tracfones, now that they’ve included Alltell and other brands and models of phones. I only know about mine.
good luck
I’d call them and tell/ask them what’s up. There’s more to their service than what is available on the website. Alltel and Nokia are both available in Hong Kong. Anyway, I wouldn’t sweat it, from what I’ve heard HK is cell phone heaven. Hundreds of vendors/shops available with everything you could dream of. I talked with a guy that was there recently. He said not to worry, he bought one for 50 bucks with time cards available on every corner. enjoy
