Distilled/purified drinking water safety.

A friend and co-worker of mine is a nut. Aside than that, she drinks both distilled (it’s free at work) and purified (by filteration, reverse osmssis, etc) water. She’s a little paranoid about chlorine and other additives in tap water. She has a point, but I wonder if she, and others like her, aren’t cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
They have dispensers at home which they refill by replacing the bottle on top, just like office coolers. She also takes the bottles to the local water supplier for refill. What I wonder about is that this water has no bug killers in it (that’s the point, after all), and the water in the dispenser never gets completely replaced. If it was contaminated with bacteria by after-purchase handling, wouldn’t the bacteria have an ideal growing environment?
Peace,

If she’s got money to burn:wink:

I’ll make sure she doesn’t see that.

Well, distilled water shouldn’t have any nutrients in it, which I don’t think would provide a good place for bacteria.
