Saw the trailer for this the other day and it looks really good. I have to say I am impressed with Shia, he has come a long way since Disney Channel!

This is a remake/update of Rear Window, right?
I think it derives certain aspects, but *Rear Window’s * character didn’t have an intimate contact with the bad guy until the end. From what I can glean from the trailer, bad guy knows that good guy knows that bad guy is bad. He terrorizes him based on that knowledge, right?
I don’t know anything about the movie Rear window, but I do know that the movie looks really good.
And Kalhoun I do believe you are right. It looks like the bad guy figures out that he is being watched/ or that people are on to him. And that is when the drama beings!
Rent “Rear Window”; you may appreciate this film more.
The idea of using a court-ordered house arrest instead of the broken leg that kept Jimmy Stewart at home in the original is a good one. I also saw in the trailer some exploration of the voyeurism that made “Rear Window” so riveting. The exponential increase in blood and gore from the Hitchcock original is a bit of a warning flag–it could simply become a slasher pic in the last third–but I’d still give it a chance…
I was proud that I made that connection, but I went on to scoff “leg bracelet instead of broken leg. Pfft”. And of course it will owe a lot to the classic Heads Over Heels. ![]()
Heh, me too. I was thinking it would probably be a dumbed down rip-off, but maybe it’ll be better than I thought.
I think it will be a really good movie. I am looking forward to it. I think the house arrest thing is a good idea. I think it was done very well based on the trailer and then the cast is pretty good.
It’s getting largely positive reviews so far, which is a little surprising, so who knows?
Interesting too to see sweet boy Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 10 Things I Hate About You all grown up and looking tougher in The Lookout (OK, I’ve only see the preview and idmb stills).
I was kind of impressed from the trailer…but it seems like one of those where they gave away 95% of the plot in said trailer.

Saw the trailer for the first time last night…that’s exactly what I thought.
He’s had a lot of terrific film work recently: Manic, Brick, The Lookout and especially Mysterious Skin. Probably as good an actor as anyone else in the industry his age.
It is not surprising to me. The cast is really good and it looks as though they have good material to work with.
It is good to see child stars grow up and break away from the roles we are used to seeing them in. Yay Shia!
A premise does not a movie make.
This is the kind of movie where I think about something Ebert always said, “it’s not what a movie is about but how it is about it.”
Yes, it could be good, but it looks like the kind of thing that is *totally *director-dependent. That said. . .this director has made movies such as “The Salton Sea” and “Taking Lives” which were both pretty good. . .not classics, but not your standard Hollywood fare either.
If I do go see this it well be to see David Morse.
He is a great actor and always makes a great ‘heavy’.
I know I am definitely going to check this on out this weekend, actually today!
The cast is pretty good, but I am really excited about seeing Shia.
Really? As soon as the sexy neighbour came in I wrote it off as mediocre teen thriller. Maybe I’m wrong. It’s just that the title is so, so horrible. I’m not sure it’s something I can get pat. (But plan on seeing The Lookout as soon as I have a minute. Joe G-L is one of the best actors around, no matter the age).
I saw this move on Saturday and all I can say is I want that time of my life back. The beginning of the movie had some suspense and twists then it slowed down and became boring. In the end it picked up again but overall I was disappointed
I saw it last weekend, and thought it was pretty decent – of course, I saw it with a full theater of (mostly) teenagers who were very into it and gasped and “ooohed” at all the right places, which made it a more fun experience. It does turn a bit slasher pic at the end, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – it’s kind of a cross of a Hitchcock remake and the best of the late '90s teen horror movies. It’s not particularly memorable, but I thought it was a fun evening out.
